Magical Melody: Animals As with every Harvest Moon game, you can have many animals on your farm! They are a vital part of running a successful farm and can also be extremely profitable. Farm animals are cows, sheep, and horses that you keep in the barn, and also chickens that you keep in the chicken coop. Wild animals are ones found throughout the town that you can befriend and earn hearts with. Pets include the dog and the pig, which are both kept in your house. The Tips sections gives advice as to how to properly interact with your animals and other basics.
Tips: Sheep - Sheep are similar to cows in terms of care. It's a good idea to brush and hand feed your sheep every day. When your sheep's coat looks full, it is ready to be sheared. Sheep will produce Dirty Wool at first, but eventually may start producing Shiny Wool more often. Special Wool is random but has a greater chance of being produced if your sheep has a high amount of hearts and/or has won the Sheep Festival. Horses - In Magical Melody, you can raise multiple horses. You should brush and hand feed your horses every day, and make sure you ride them around the village on nice days. If your horse has a high amount of hearts they have a good chance of winning the Horse Races, which will award them with a Crown by their name. It is possible to raise racehorses and sell them for 50000G, if you don't mind letting them go. The row of stars next to the horse's hearts displays the amount of training it has. Chickens - Chickens are simple to take care of and there are a few new elements of care in Magical Melody. Picking a chicken up is similar to talking to a barn animal; it will help increase hearts over time. You may hand feed your chickens (preferred method) or place food in their boxes. A chicken will lay an egg every morning as long as its mature and fed the day before. A good technique if you are low on chicken feed is to put the chickens in the field in the beginning of the day, and bring them back in the coop when night falls. They will eat during the day and lay eggs the next morning as long as they are in the coop. If you leave them in the field until the next morning, they will not lay eggs.
