Magical Melody: Crops

There are plenty of new crops in Magical Melody! Growing crops every season can be extremely profitable and helpful. Crops are also used in recipes to make delicious and stamina-increasing dishes. Many townspeople have a favorite veggie that they'd love to recieve as a gift or birthday present! Below is an explanation of how to properly grow crops, as well as a information chart.

Growing Crops
One bag of seeds will occupy 9 squares in a 3x3 configuration. For crops with multiple harvests such as corn and breadfruit, the most convenient configuration is to plant them in a U shape:
X _ X
This allows you to reach the middle crop, whereas if you plant all 9 squares you won't be able to pick it. However for crops with only one harvest, you can plant them in a full 3x3 square and be able to access all of the crops. Although it depends upon how much space you have on your farm, its a good idea to only have a few squares of crops when you first start out, as it takes a long time and a lot of stamina to water with the iron watering can. Once you upgrade your watering can, however, it will take much less time and stamina to water plants and you therefore can grow more.

Fertilizer & Soil
In order for fertilizer to become available you must ship 10 limestones. After you do so you can purchase it from the Flower Shop. One bag of fertilizer covers 9 squares exactly like a bag of seeds does. In Magical Melody, fertilizer can be an extremely profitable investment. There are three different types of soil - poor, ordinary and good. In order to upgrade your soil you must spread fertilizer on it. It will then go up one quality. For example, if you live on the beachside property which has poor soil, you can till a 3x3 square, then stand in the middle and spread the fertilizer. It will then become ordinary soil. To upgrade to good soil you must use another bag of fertilizer. Poor soil is very light brown in color, ordinary soil is a bit darker brown, and good soil is dark brown. Once the quality of soil is improved it will stay that condition permanently! Fertilizer increases the sell price of your crops, and some crops that are grown in good soil will double their sell price!

Growing Trees
Trees need a 3x3 square just like plants do, so they have room for fruit to fall on. When you plant a tree it will show up as a sapling. You do not need to water saplings, but it will mature faster if you do water it daily. Fruit trees are generally smaller in size than other trees. They will produce fruit in their season every year as long as they're mature. You can also plant and grow trees on town property, and its a good idea to do so. When you plant a tree on town property, a smiley face will come up over your character, indicating your town appreciates it! These trees will also still bear fruit, so if you have no room on your farm for fruit trees, you can still harvest them on a piece of land nearby.

Grass
You can grow grass fields on your farm to produce fodder for your animals, and to allow them a place to graze. One bag of grass seeds covers a 3x3 square. You do not need to water grass but you should water the seeds when you first plant them. When the grass is long enough (appears a medium shade of green) you can cut it down with your sickle. If you don't cut it it will grow longer, but it will not yield any more fodder. Bring all animals inside before you cut down grass - they'll get startled if you cut while they are nearby! If you accidently hit an animal with your sickle, it will immediately lose one heart, so its best to be safe and bring them inside first. Unfortunately your grass will die in Winter and will not regrow in Spring, so you have to replant it.
